"That's an island in Sabah right?"
Let me just stop you right there. This beautiful Sibu Island is in Johor, Malaysia! Yes, Johor. I was as surprised as you are when my best friend showed me pictures of amazing islands and told me they were all located in Johor. I never would have thought Johor had such beautiful islands.
The most popular islands in Johor are Pulau Aur, Pulau Besar, Pulau Rawa and Pulau Tengah just to name a few. As I was indecisively looking through GoogleMaps tryna decide which frigging island should I escape to, I stumbled onto Sibu Island at the far end. It looked so pristine, quiet and well, long story short, I impulsively booked a hotel room for me and my best friend for a 3 night stay (whops).
How to get there?
You know when you impulsively book a trip and then it hits you that you haven't got the transportation part all figured out? Yeap, that's exactly what happened (jokes on me). Johor is like a 5 hour drive from my place in KL but genius Yuv did not take into account that her car was being serviced and was totally unfit to travel long distance. On top of that, Sibu Island is ONLY accessible via Tanjung Leman Jetty which is also located at the far end side of Johor as compared to Mersing Jetty from which the other popular islands are accessed.
Not giving up!
So we bought bus tickets to Mersing Bus Terminal in Johor and from there, we took a local mini bus to a bus stop in Tenggaroh. From Tenggaroh bus stop, we took a taxi to our hotel beside the Tanjung Leman Jetty. We stayed at Felda Residence Tanjung Leman for a night as we missed the departure time for boats to the island.

Tanjung Leman Jetty

Pretty view of the sunset from our hotel room at Felda Residence Tanjung Leman.
The next morning, we departed from Tanjung Leman Jetty and FINALLY! arrived at Sari Pacifica Resort & Spa, Sibu Island. The view was amazing and it made all that hassle of transportation worth it! (but please go by car).

Sibu Island was quiet, serene and simply beautiful. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway and some peace & quiet, this island is perfect for that. There's not much snorkeling or island hopping services offered here so if you are looking for more water activities, then I suggest going to the more popular islands that I've mentioned earlier in this post.
What did we do there? Well basically loads of walking and exploring. Believe it or not, we actually walked around the entire island by feet! We came across a mini fisherman village at the far end of the island with houses, school, farms, cows (cow dungs) and a police station.

Plus, we took up on a boatman's offer to take us to a snorkeling spot at Pulau Tinggi. WAY TOO BEAUTIFUL!!

Am I in heaven?

"Brb looking for nemo"
*TIP: If you are looking for a good swim spot in Sibu Island, my personal favorite would be the Sunrise Beach. There was absolutely no one in the beach when we were there and it truly felt like we had our own personal beach. BLISS!

Sibu Island, you have been splendid.

Hi guys! Meet Sea Bij. It's a mandatory thing we build every time we go on a beach vacay. She's sad I'm leaving and also happy & pretty because there is no rubbish washed on the beach. If you want Sea Bij to stay happy forever, PLEASE, DO YOUR PART IN KEEPING THE OCEAN & BEACH CLEAN. Be civilized human beings and clean up after yourself and dispose rubbish properly. You can't expect to visit clean pristine beaches & oceans if you aren't even taking the initiative to make sure they stay that way.
Peace out!
